El Capitan is aptly named as the master of Yosemite Valley. Rising over 3,000 feet from the valley floor to the summit, the severity of this monolith is one of the greatest monuments to the supremity of nature that stands on our planet. Captured just before dusk, the massive shadow cast by its prominent Nose just begins to cool the Eastern side of the face after cooking in the orange sun all day.
